What Is In the Air Around Me?
Viruses: .3 microns (Covid-2, Corona, Flue)
Bacillus and Bacteria: .6 microns (Common Cold, e-Coli on the kitchen counter)
Dust: 2.5 microns (Fine Dust, Bed Bugs Excrements in mattresses)
Respiratory Droplets : 5-10 microns (All Waterbourne Particles, such as Cooking Smells or Smoke)
Pollen: 15 microns (angiosperms, produced by the anthers of the stamens in flowers)
Hair and Pet Dander
The Greentech HEPA Odogard Air Purifierfor instance is certified to remove 99.97% of all microscopic particles as small as 0.3 microns in size. 0.3 microns is the smallest possible particle size that can enter the lungs. Because of the added ionisation technology, water molecules with the patricles attached to them attract each other, become heavier, fall to the ground and hamper breathing it in.

What Techniques Does Greentech Use?
GreenTech uses a three-pronged approach to purify your air through:
- Filtration, either taking place with a HEPA filter i.e., fysically removing viruses and bacteria besides bigger particles as well, or with a regular filter just removing dust/pollen and using ozone to klill viruses/bacteria.
- Ionisation; the process by which an atom or a molecule acquires a negative or positive charge by gaining or losing electrons. The resulting electrically charged atom or molecule is called an ion.They bond together resulting in the formation of ion pairs, getting heavy and stop floating in the air.
- Ozonisation with the addition of Odogard dispels odours. Drinking water is in most cases disinfected with ozone by your water supplier, as an alternative to chlorine. The same technique is used by GreenTech to purify the air, staying well under the legally allowed ozone levels. It is nature's way to purify air, which is what you smell after a rain s
How Can You Best Improve the Air Quality in Your Home or Office?
The best way to improve air quality, certainly in well-insulated homes and buildings, is to ventilate frequently. If not, pollutants, odours and CO2 levels will rise as the day goes on, causing drowsiness and, in the worst case, making you feel ill. But:
- In harsher climates or in fall or winter one does not open up windows, certainly not with the current energy prices;
- In big city locations or industrial areas with a high degree of pollution outside, it would be wiser NOT to open a window;
- Your age and pre-existing medical conditions, such as allergies (due to pollen i.e.), are also of an important influence;
- If the moisture level in your home or building is too high, bacteria and moulds will grow abundantly, often in places you don’t regularly look, such as basements, closets or crawl spaces underneath floor boards. These mould spores are ‘silent kilers’ and can make you very sick (i.e. asthma flare-ups, fungal sinusitis, or pneumonitis).
What Does MERV Stand For?
MERV stands for Minimum Efficiency Reporting Values and report a filter's ability to capture larger particles between 0.3 and 10 microns (µm).
- This value is helpful in comparing the performance of different filters;
- The rating is derived from a test method developed by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) [see www.ashrae.org];
- The higher the MERV rating the better the filter is at trapping specific types of particles;
- The GreenTech HEPA + Odogard i.e. has a MERV rating of 9.
What is a HEPA Filter?
HEPA is a type of pleated mechanical air filter. It is an acronym for “High Efficiency Particulate Air [filter]" (as officially defined by the U.S. Dept. of Energy).
- This type of air filter can theoretically remove at least 99.97% of dust, pollen, mold, bacteria, and any airborne particles with a size of 0.3 microns (µm). The diameter specification of 0.3 microns responds to the worst case; the most penetrating particle size (MPPS). Particles that are larger or smaller are trapped with even higher efficiency. Using the worst case particle size results in the worst case efficiency rating (i.e. 99.97% or better for all particle sizes).
- The Greentech HEPA air purifier i.e. requires periodic cleaning and filter replacement to function properly. Please follow Greentech's recommendations on maintenance and replacement or subscribe to our notification email.
Are there Any Lab Results and Measures Available?
Yes, and here are the Independent Laboratory results (documents can be sent upon request):
- 86.98% Inactivation of SARS-CoV-2 on surfaces;
- 99.98% Inactivation of SRA-CoV-2; These tests conclude that the Greentech Active HEPA+Air Purifier is highly effective at reducing the infectivity of aerosolized SARS-CoV-2 virus with a 3.63 log (99.98%) reduction within three (3) minutes and twenty (20) seconds of operation in relation to baseline control results;
- 99.9% Reduction of TVOC (Temperature vs. Moisture Levels) & PM (Particle Pollution, a mixture of particles and air-borne droplets with acid);
- 99.9% Reduction of Airborne Moulds, Bacteria, TVOC, Surface bacteria and Odours with ozone levels remaining below TLV guidance;
- 99.9% reduction of Odours (TVOC), Formaldehyde (HCHO), PM and RPC.
Are GreenTech Active Air Purifiers Certified?
Yes, and these are the certifications (documents can be sent upon request):
- CE
- SER EN ISO 9001: 2015 Quality Management System
- SR en ISO 14001: 2015 Environmental Management System
- SR OHSAS 18001: 2008 Occupational Heath and Safety Management System
- VERpackG Certificate
What Are Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC's)?
VOC’s or Volatile Organic Compounds have a high vapor pressure and low water solubility.
- Many are human-made chemicals that are used and produced in the manufacture of paints and lacquers, cleaning supplies, disinfectants, cosmetics, degreasing fluids, hobby products, paint strippers, pesticides, building materials and furnishings, office equipment such as copiers and printers, correction fluids and carbonless copy paper, graphics and craft materials including glues and adhesives, permanent markers, and photographic solutions.
- VOC's typically are also all industrial solvents, such as trichloroethylene; fuel oxygenates, such as methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE); or by-products produced by chlorination in water treatment, such as chloroform.
- VOC's are also common ground-water contaminants.
- Concentrations of many VOC's are consistently higher indoors (up to ten times higher) than outdoors.
Why are some units not priced, but only available on request?
These are units that need extra work, such as taking measurements, adding a wall outlet or which require installation by a certified installer. We would like to give the customer the benefit of a quote first.
Fact: Low-Level Ozone Safe fo Air Purification
I hear about ozone alerts and air quality, what is a safe level of exposure?
When used in accordance with the owner’s manual, GreenTech Environmental’s products do not create an indoor environment that exceeds 0.05ppm (parts per million), which is the same level the FDA in the US requires for indoor medical devices.
When there is is an abnormally high level of pollution (after an indoor fire for example) or other sources create ozone (O3)sometimes a high level of ozone is required. all Greentech units have an automatic cut-of if ozone levels exceed the standard.
Are ozone air purifiers safe?
Ozone therapy has been heavily studied for more than a century, and its effects are proven, consistent and safe. With more than a decade of experience, you can trust that GreenTech Environmental’s products are safe when used in accordance with the owner’s manual. GreenTech Environmental has invested heavily in product safety.
